Men’s Rites of Passage

Men’s Rites of Passage is Illuman’s most popular event. This five-day, four-night program helps men awaken their sense of adventure and explore the mysteries of masculinity, their deepest spiritual capacities, leadership potential, and the meaning of life.

The question of what it means to be a man confuses most men. Many long for the support and guidance of other men on the journey toward manhood, maturity, and deeper connection with the divine. In ancient cultures, initiation rites and vision quests were used to help boys transition into adult male life.

Men are invited to participate in the initiation ritual if they are ready to fully engage from beginning to end, rather than remaining as mere observers. All participants begin from a place of “zero point” without plans or prior expectations. All that is asked is to come with a “beginner’s mind,” like apprentices seeking wisdom.

Initiation, like life itself, is not a “spectator sport.”

This is not about religion, but about deep spirituality. It is about ancient traditions that guide us in becoming men and trusting that our lives are led by something far greater than we can imagine.

To live a shallow, unexplored life is emptiness. The path of enlightenment begins with ancient traditions that teach five truths—without which one cannot fully enter into life’s adventures and mysteries. Men’s Rites of Passage open the door to this journey.
