Program in English, German, Latvian. Week of Stilness.
20.07. — 26.07.2026 16:00— 10:00 Spiritual Practice Center Stacija, Lūžņa village, Ventspils region, LatviaWho hasn’t experienced those moments in life when everything simply feels too much — when you long to step away from the rush, leave behind the noise of daily routines, and find a place where you can simply be yourself?
A place where time slows down, your thoughts settle, and your heart grows calm.
The desire to disconnect from external noise and endless stimulation is becoming ever more urgent. In a world overflowing with sounds and distractions, where so many things compete for our attention, there is little space left for a free mind. The chance to sit quietly has become a rare luxury.
It is no surprise that the leading travel magazine Condé Nast Traveller has named “silent travel” as one of the major emerging trends in wellness tourism. The publication cites neuroscientist Anne-Sophie Fluri, who notes that including silence in everyday life can “deepen your relationship with yourself, improve communication with others, and build psychological resilience in facing life’s challenges.”
A Week of Stillness truly allows you to stop and rest — deliberately stepping away from the overload created by technology. It helps everyone restore their strength, but is especially valued by leaders and decision-makers. Many executives and business owners have shared that regular silent retreats help them maintain inner balance and mental clarity. Extended time spent in silence not only allows one to endure daily pressures but also nurtures creativity and brings fresh, innovative insights.
By the end of the week, both the mind and body feel deeply renewed.
Now, this opportunity — to be alone and in silence — is available through regular Weeks of Stillness held in Lūžņa, one of the most pristine, quiet, and beautiful places in Latvia.
Each participant may spend the week in their own way: in quiet contemplation, slow walks through the forest or along the seashore. Those who wish may also dedicate the time to deeper self-understanding and personal reflection — in other words, to spiritual growth. On the first day of the Silent Week, the meditation teacher will introduce several meaningful ways to spend this time.
GUIDELINES
Participation in the Week of Stillness requires a clear commitment to the following:
- Residents of the House of Stillness must observe complete silence; use of sound-producing devices (e.g. TV, radio, computers, etc.) and any kind of noise-making is not permitted.
- Mobile phones are not allowed in the House of Stillness.
- The use of intoxicating substances (e.g. alcohol, drugs, etc.) is strictly prohibited.
- Smoking is not allowed inside the House of Stillness; it is permitted only in a designated outdoor area within the territory.
- Participants may not receive guests in their rooms.
- Each participant must respect the silence space of others — conversations with other residents are not allowed.
By registering for the Week of Stillness, the participant agrees to strictly follow these rules. In the event of a serious violation, the guest may be asked to leave the House of Stillness.
- The Week of Stillness is not a teacher-led retreat. However, short individual consultations with the meditation teacher are available at designated times. These conversations can provide personal guidance on how to structure your Week of Stillness or deepen your meditation or spiritual practice.
- Three times a day, there is an optional 25-minute guided meditation led by the teacher. Participants who wish may meditate more often, as the meditation hall remains open for personal use.
- Guests may also spend time reading in the House of Stillness library.
